Using the username requires activation, for which the person will receive instructions to their personal email address. The username for staff and visitor roles can be activated at the earliest on the day before the start date of the employment contract, and for the student role, at the earliest 30 days before the start date of the study right (LUT/LAB) or earlier in special cases (LUT).

You can activate your username:

  • by self-service at the LUT identity service at https://id.lut.fi using bank credentials or a police-issued ID card with a chip (Homepage - http://Suomi.fi authentication)

  • remotely with a passport via the Signicat Identity Proofing service and a video connection**

  • at the campus IT support point for students**

** Identity verification: Passport, Finnish ID card, Finnish residence permit card, or Finnish driver's license, ID cards from EU or Schengen countries. After activation, you will receive a message with instructions to set up two-factor authentication (MFA).
